The Fourth Feast Day

Shavuot, Pentecost, or the Feast of Weeks (High Shabbat)

Shavuot must be observed by counting 50 days from the first weekly Shabbat after Passover, during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The first day of this count, as we learned last week, is the Feast of Firstfruits. These fifty days will total seven complete Shabbat days, which is significant as seven represents completeness. The Torah does not specify or provide a fixed date for Shavuot, making it a moveable feast, which occurs according to the fifty-day count it’s tied to, as explained above.

Shavuot, also known as Pentecost in modern Christian tradition, commemorates the outpouring of the Ruach Ha’Kodesh (Holy Spirit) as recorded in Acts 2. The name ‘Pentecost’ comes from the Greek word pentekoste, meaning ‘fiftieth,’ referring to the fifty-day count leading to Shavuot. While Christians commonly associate this day with the Ruach Ha’Kodesh’s descent on the disciples, Shavuot also has deep roots in the Hebrew Scriptures, linked to the giving of the commands and the establishment of the covenant between 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 and His people at Mount Sinai.

Shavuot will, however, always fall in the month of Sivan, the third Hebrew month. It will always be on a Sunday (the first day of the week), as the day after the first weekly Shabbat (the seventh day) after the Passover is a Sunday. Seven Shabbats and fifty days later will always fall on a Sunday. The fifth-day count will sometimes fall on the sixth day of Sivan, but it’s not fixed to the sixth of Sivan as the rabbinical priesthood of old and modern Jew-ish people believe (Rev 2:9, 3:9).

Counting to Shavuot

Why are we counting from one feast day to another feast day?

There is a connection between the Feast of Firstfruits and the Feast of Weeks (Shavuot), highlighted by their offerings. Both feasts are tied to the agricultural harvest and mark significant points in that cycle. One marks the beginning, and the other the completion.

• The Feast of Firstfruits offers the first of the harvest to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (Leviticus 23:10-11), acknowledging His provision and sovereignty over the land or giving back the first and best of what you have received. This is done by waving raw, beaten barley sheaves before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.
• The Feast of Weeks marks the completion of the harvest. It is a time of thanksgiving for the fullness of the harvest reaped (Leviticus 23:17). This is displayed by waving two baked loaves of leavened bread before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.

As we progress in this study, you will see the significance of Shavuot blossom, but let me quickly highlight a few key points. 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏 fulfilled the symbolism of the Old Testament wave-sheaf offering, becoming the firstfruits of the harvest, the first resurrected Son of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, and the first to complete the process of salvation and be “born again.” However, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏 could not have become the captain of our salvation without possessing an essential ingredient—the Ruach Ha’Kodesh (Holy Spirit)—which is necessary for all who are to be born again.

The second, or final, step—symbolized by the Feast of Weeks (Shavuot)—marks the completion of the harvest. The two loaves of leavened bread represent the fullness of the harvest. It’s important to note that even after the salvation harvest is marked, sin remains within humanity. Nevertheless, this does not negate the offering; rather, it points to the ongoing process of sanctification. The presence of leaven in the two loaves mirrors the reality that the people of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄—Yahshar’el and Gentiles grafted in as wild branches—though redeemed, are still in the process of transformation. Note: Gentiles being “grafted in” (Romans 11:17) are now a part of the same covenant.

Ultimately, the time between Firstfruits and Shavuot (the 50 days) is not just a countdown to a festival but a spiritual process. It’s a cycle that mirrors the believer’s walk—from the initial offering of the firstfruits of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏‘s sacrifice to the completion of that work through the outpouring of the Ruach Ha’Kodesh at Shavuot. This outpouring provided the missing essential ingredient that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏 had and promised to give to us—empowering us to live in obedience to the laws and commandments of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄. The power to fulfill the Torah was made available to all believers.

he one who keeps his commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.”

Timeline From the Passover in Egypt to Yahshar’el’s Interaction With 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 on Mount Sinai

First of the Month (Head of the Months – Exodus 12:2)

• 14th – First Passover -(Exodus 12:1-13)
• 15th – 21st – Feast of Unleavened Bread (Exodus 12:15-20)

Though Yahshar’el was not able to observe the agricultural feast days in the wilderness, due to not yet possessing the Promised Land, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 still orchestrated His plan through the timing of His Feast Days, pointing toward future events in His redemptive plan. 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 operates in cycles, with each feast serving as a reminder and pattern that reveals His ultimate purpose. The events of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏‘s death and resurrection, aligning with Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits, are not random but are part of the divine plan that reflects the hand of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.

Similarly, the connection between the first Shavuot, when the commandments and covenant were given, and the Shavuot after 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏‘s resurrection, when the covenant was renewed, and the Ruach Ha’Kodesh (Set Apart Spirit) was poured out, demonstrates how 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 works through revelation and restoration. 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 used the same cycle, but through 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏 as the Passover Lamb, He allowed Yahshar’el and the wild grafted-in branches (Romans 11:17) to renew the covenant, with the addition of the promised Ruach Ha’Kodesh (John 14:15-17, John 15:26), empowering us to live in obedience to His ways, laws, commandments, precepts, and Torah. Though we have received this empowerment, we have yet to experience the full realization of the prophecy in which 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 will write His laws on our hearts and minds (Jeremiah 31:33-34). We eagerly await that ultimate fulfillment.

Scriptures

• Leviticus 23:9-22 – 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 commands the Shavuot (Feast of Weeks or Feast of First Fruits) and provides specific instructions.
• Acts 2:1-5 – After Yahshua’s death, burial, and resurrection. His closest followers, Peter, the other Apostles, and many others numbering around 120, kept the Shabbat and Shavuot (Pentecost).
• Acts 20:16 – Paul kept the day of Shavuot (Pentecost).
• Joel 2:28-32 – 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 promises to pour out His Spirit, connecting this promise to the event in Acts 2.
• John 7:37-39, 14:15-17 – 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏 promises the coming of the Spirit, linking the giving of the Spirit to Shavuot.

On the Day of Shavuot (High Shabbat)

• No work, buying, or selling
• Refrain from self-seeking activities or distractions from the holiness of the day
• Rest
• Cooking is allowed
• Feast
• Have a holy gathering (Fellowship with other believers if possible)

Conclusion

On Shavuot, we celebrate not only the harvest, the commandments, and the covenant 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 made with His people (Exodus 19:1-6, 20:1-17), but also the profound outpouring of His Spirit upon humanity. Just as Yahshar’el received the laws that would guide their lives and establish their covenant with 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄, the disciples were likewise empowered by the Ruach Ha’Kodesh to spread the message of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏 and live in obedience to His laws. This parallel underscores 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄‘s desire to dwell within His people, offering both the guidance of His commandments and the transformative power of His Spirit. In essence, Shavuot is a pivotal moment in salvation history, where the promises of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏, the keeping of the covenant, and obedience to the law through the Ruach Ha’Kodesh converge.

The Devils Idea(s)

The devil, known as the deceiver in Revelation 12:9 and the father of lies in John 8:44, along with his children, are skilled at implanting ideas in people’s minds. It is often through suggestions, subtle influence, mental manipulation, belief systems, and false religions that the devil and his children manipulate and influence the thoughts and beliefs of others. This means that they can skillfully plant ideas in your mind by nudging your thoughts in a particular direction, all with the intention of leading you astray from the truth and further away from YAH 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 or יהוה.

The ability to deceive and manipulate is a powerful tool, and it is something that Bible Believing Believers should be aware of when trying to discern what is true and what is not. To protect ourselves from the schemes of the devil and his followers, we must become true disciples of YAH 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄. This involves the discipline of studying the word of YAH 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 daily, praying to Him daily, worshiping Him in spirit and truth daily, and allowing the Ruach to lead everyday. By doing so, we become more vigilant and discerning, which helps us avoid falling prey to the devil and his followers, especially the “Tares“- those planted by the devil in the body of Yahshua, as mentioned in Matthew 13:24-43.

Polytheistic Deception

Definition of Polytheism:

• The belief in multiple deities, which are usually assembled into a pantheon of gods and goddesses, along with their own religious sects and rituals.The state of being whole and undivided

Definition of Monotheism:

• The belief that there is only one El, an all-supreme being that is universally referred to incorrectly as God (Gawd or modernized as Gad), see Strong’s Concordance number H1409).

The devil is responsible for drawing the world into the web of polytheistic deception, lulling many to sleep with this poison, causing them to serve and believe in his many-god, any-god, any god other than YAH יהוה theology. This very deception is how Satan will cause the inhabitants of the world to worship him under a one-world religion. It’s worth noting that the One World Religion Headquarters has already been constructed in Abu Dhabi and is supported by three of the world’s five major religions, namely Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. However, let’s not get ahead of ourselves and start from the beginning with the creator of Polytheism. It all started millenniums ago with Cush, the oldest son of Ham and grandson to Noah. So we will start there and then move on to Nimrod(1, 2, 3), Semiramis, and Tammuz, the creators of the mystery Religion(s) in Babylon” thousands of years ago.

The Beginning of Polytheism

Cush married Semiramis, and together, they had several children, but one of their most notable offspring was Nimrod, whose name means we will rebel. Nimrod was a skilled hunter and a mighty hero in the land before YAH יהוה (Genesis 10:8-12). He also was the same Nimrod who arrogantly and rebelliously built the Tower of Babilu, better known as Babel. Interestingly, Babilu means the gate of god, but it can also mean son of Bel. It is possible that Nimrod named the city after himself, as he was the son of Bel (Cush), which you will see in a moment.

Exaltation and Deification

Definition of Deification:

• to make a god of

According to some historical records and writings, Cush exalted and deified himself as the pagan god Baal, Bel, and sun god Ra (father god). Semiramis deified herself as Ashtoreth, the Queen of Heaven (mother god). Cush would later be disgraced, and his wife Semiramis left him and married her son Nimrod. Nimrod took on the role of Baal (father god), usurping his father, either in addition to or instead of. Nimrod was later killed by his Uncle Shem for lifting himself up as a god and leading people into false worship. In an effort to remain Queen and maintain power, Semiramis somehow becomes pregnant with Tammuz and convinces the kingdom that she conceived Tammuz divinely by Nimrod-Baal and Tammuz is Baal Reborn (son of god). These deities held significant importance in the ancient world and were worshipped by many.

Mentioned in Scripture

Although Semiramis is never mentioned in the Bible, her deified name, Ashtoreth, Asherah, and Queen of Heaven, are mentioned several times throughout scripture. Cush and Nimrod are not mentioned many times; however, just like Semiramis, their deified names, Baal and Bel, are mentioned a considerable amount. Tammuz, also known as Dumuzid, is mentioned in Ezekiel 8:14.

Satan’s Transition Throughout the Ages

Cush, Nimrod, Semiramis, and Tammuz, the Founders of Polytheism (FOP), were all under the influence of Satan and his idea that man could be like YAH. Remember, it was Satan who told Eve in Genesis 3:5 that she and Adam could be like the Most High. Satan also expressed that he wanted to exalt himself above YAH in Isaiah 14:12–16. The FOP’s game plan was near-sided as they did not see the long game that satan was playing. FOP exalted and deified themselves to be gods for the short term to exert and maintain power and control, to be worshiped, and to be remembered in history. Satan’s plan was and still is to deceive the entire world through every dispensation. Look at the charts below, and you will see how Satan has transitioned throughout time using FOP as well as changing his name throughout cultures.

It is important to note that false deities created by man and Satan often share similar storylines. This can make it difficult to distinguish between them and to know what is true. In reality, there is no truth in any of it. All worship of these deities and other idols is worship of Satan. For example, there are stories about Sammaramis, also known as Ishtar (pronounced “Easter”), who supposedly became pregnant from the sun god Baal’s sun rays and gave birth to Tammuz from an egg. Similarly, Mirtha was also said to have been born from an egg.

Additionally, both Tammuz and Mirtha are said to have been born on December 25, along with other pagan gods and goddesses like Nimrod (Tammuz’s father), Horus, Dionysus, Osiris, Attis, and the Roman Catholic Jesus (birth by the Roman Catholic Virgin Mary also known as the Queen of Heaven). These are all reimaginations of old pagan gods and goddesses. This is why YAH commanded the people of Yahsharel not to engage in idolatry and reminded them repeatedly that he never changes, unlike ever-changing false gods. This was true then and is still true today; we should not engage in idolatry, no matter how innocent it may seem or how long we may have kept an idolatrous tradition. We must worship in spirit and in truth only (John 4:24).

Satan’s Goal

Satan’s goal has always been to kill, steal, and destroy, and he will never change (John 10:10). Satan’s purpose with this deception and all of his deceptions is to get humanity to worship him by any means necessary, no matter the form. The polytheistic deception works well as it manipulates the human psyche by giving us the illusion of control through the liberty to worship whomever or whatever we choose. The idea of selecting a god that fits one’s needs is appealing to people as it also provides a sense of control over their religious practices.

Polytheism says there are multiple gods; select one that aligns with your personal beliefs or choose whichever god serves your specific needs. Unfortunately, people treat YAH the same way as if there is an El of the Old Testament and an El of the New Testament, and they need to pick one. One half chooses to follow the New Testament only and dismiss the Torah and Old Testament, calling it bondage when the truth is the New Testament quotes the Old Testament repeatedly. The other half only follows the Old Testament and misses out on Salvation through Yahshua. The polytheistic deception encourages people to choose a god based on their desires rather than seeking a deeper understanding of the Truth, and that truth is יהוה.

The Truth about Created Things

The actual truth is that there is only one EL, and His name is 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (יהוה) (see scriptures at the bottom). Serving, worshiping, and obeying anything other than YAH is giving glory to Satan.

• Doctrine Example
  • The Romans created the polytheistic doctrine of the Trinity. Yes, it is polytheism, and Yes, it’s a created doctrine, as the Bible never mentions the Trinity. The doctrine is a fundamental belief of most Christians. Yet, many struggle to provide a clear and concise explanation if asked. The reason is because it is complex, confusing, and not biblical. Please remember that Rome was saturated with paganism, and through syncretism, new beliefs were created and added to Christianity. The truth is YAH יהוה is EL, and His only begotten son is Yahshua; they are not one physically; they are echad like a husband and wife are echad, not as one being, but one in agreement, action, and thought. Yahshua points out the separation between Him and His Father when He proclaims in Mark 10:18, “No one is good except One, YAH יהוה.” Yahshua also clarified this in Luke 22:42 when He talked to His Father (not Himself) and said, “not My will, but thine, be done.” Indicating that He has His own will and the Father has His own will. People, we do not serve an El with dissociative identity disorder with three different personalities or entities in one (god the Father, god the Son, and god the Holy Spirit as a godhead). Consider Revelation 3:1 and Revelation 4:5, which both say YAH has seven spirits. Also, consider Isaiah 11:2, which names those seven spirits. Does this mean that the godhead is enneadnity (a word I made up like they made trinity), nine in one (Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Spirit of wisdom, Spirit of understanding, Spirit of counsel, Spirit of power, Spirit of knowledge, and Spirit of the fear of the Lord)? Of course not. These are separate individual spirits. For example, you can read about the separate spirit of wisdom in Proverbs 8:22-31. It gives us the history of the spirit of wisdom before and during creation.
• Idol Example
  • “All three major religions worship paganism in some form through stone and wood. Christians have the wooden cross, Muslims have the (Kaaba or black stone) in Mecca, and Judaism bows daily to the stone wall (Wailing Wall) in Jerusalem, which is the remains of the Roman Fort Antonia.” (Don Esposito Study Note HRB – Deut 4:28) It is not enough to say, be careful not to idolize “the cross” when the simple truth is that it has no place at all in our worship of YAH יהוה. We were never told to make a cross, bow down to it, make jewelry, or sing songs about it. This is a very dangerous thing that Christianity has created.

Some of the Other Religions in the World.

• Hinduism – There are differing beliefs on the number of gods, with estimates ranging from six to thirty-three million and each god being unique. Some believe it’s 33 types of gods.
• Buddhists worship and show reverence to Buddha by offering fresh flowers, lights, and lamps or burning fragrant incense at shrines with images of the Buddha. Some followers maintain personal shrines at home for private worship, aspiring to emulate Buddha. Although they claim Buddha is not a god but an enlightened being who has achieved freedom from the cycle of life and death, they create Buddha idols and worship them. Therefore, Buddha is their god, as their devotion is directed towards him.
• New Age – Bows down to self, believing there is no one true way to pursue spirituality. These individuals choose to explore their spirituality without adhering to any specific set of beliefs or traditions. These people often follow their own intuition and inner guidance, seeking personal growth and self-discovery. On the other hand, there are those who hold a deep conviction that they are divine beings with complete control over their lives and destinies. They see themselves as sovereign entities, possessing an inherent power and wisdom transcending human limitations. (Proverbs 14:12)

Conclusion

Satan has created multiple roads that lead directly to him, but most of humanity is deceived, blinded, and unaware of it. Satan and his tares have changed the truth of Elohim into a lie. The great news is that you don’t have to be. Our Father has provided us with His Torah and Holy Scriptures for direction, His only begotten son for salvation, and His Ruach to guide us in our faith. We don’t have to be fooled by the devil and subjected to this world. However, if you spend all your time being entertained by this world and the things of it versus in the Word of YAH and things of YAH, you will be deceived and probably already are. I employ you to come out of (her, them, or the world) and be ye separate. (2 Corinthians 6:17, Romans 12:2, Revelation 18:4).

Definition of Jealous:

1. Intolerant of rivalry or unfaithfulness
2. Fiercely protective or vigilant of one’s rights or possessions
3. Feeling or showing suspicion of someone’s unfaithfulness in a relationship
4. Feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages

There’s a considerable amount of misunderstanding surrounding YAWHEH’s statement about Himself, the creator of the Heavens and Earth, being a jealous El. The confusion occurs when people are fooled into thinking or believing that YAHWEH is jealous or envious of what they have and wishing He had it. However, this understanding needs to be changed as it is not accurate. YAHWEH’s jealousy does not resemble flawed human jealousy, which usually stems from a place of envy, greed, and covetousness. YAHWEH is the creator and owner of everything (Colossians 1:15-17) and is the one that provides “every good gift and every perfect gift” (James 1:17). As such, it would not be reasonable for Him to feel envy towards anything we might possess.

Oprah Winfrey’s Account of a Jealous El

(See minutes 5:17 – 7:30)

Oprah Winfrey shared a story about a charismatic minister who preached about YAHWEH being omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, and jealous. She recounted how she sat listening to this great minister and couldn’t help but wonder to herself, ““God” is jealous of me?” Her thoughts left her unsettled, stating, “something about that didn’t feel right in my spirit.” Oprah began to explain that the words “The Lord thy “God” is a Jealous God” was her awakening that moved her to search for and explore something more than doctrine. 

Righteous Doctrine

I firmly believe that individuals must reject and walk away from manufactured doctrine and instead prioritize the teachings of the Bible (Colossians 2:8). It is imperative to follow only those doctrines that align with Scripture or, even better, allow the word of YAHWEH to guide your beliefs. The word of YAHWEH should dictate your doctrine instead of the doctrine dictating your beliefs. Man-made doctrines are often associated with cherry-picking Scriptures to detach them from the surrounding context to change their true meaning. Therefore, we must prioritize the whole truth of Scripture over any manufactured beliefs and truly embrace the wisdom and guidance the Bible provides (2 Timothy 3:16).

Continued: Oprah Winfrey’s Account of a Jealous El

Oprah’s exploration for spiritual enlightenment outside of the doctrine she was currently in took a demonic turn that led her away from righteous doctrine. She continued her story and dropped a bombshell by quoting Eckhart Tolle, which indicated that she did not move away from doctrine but instead chose another man’s doctrine or philosophy. She moved away from the belief in YAHWEH and His son Yahshua and moved more to a belief in self and the multiple ways to “Heaven” ideology. Regrettably, her misunderstanding of Scripture and mischaracterizations of YAHWEH led her astray from the path of righteousness. Her new beliefs are a cause for concern as she is now leading many others down the same road, further distancing them from YAHWEH and Yahshua.

Even now, she and other celebrities like Steve Harvey continue to promote the false idea (doctrine) that there are multiple paths to “God” and eternal life through self-belief or any of the numerous religions in the world. A study by the Pew Research Center indicates that a shocking 58% of American Christians believe other religions can lead to eternal life. Contrary to that belief is the truth found in (John 14:6 and Acts 4:12), which proves that there is only one way to YAHWEH, and that is through His Son Yahshua. First, it is crucial to recognize and acknowledge that we belong to YAHWEH. He created us and placed us on His Earth as His possession. Unfortunately, Adam introduced sin and death to humanity, which created a separation between humanity and YAHWEH. Thankfully, as a demonstration of His love for us, YAHWEH sent His only begotten son (John 3:16), Yahshua, to pay for our sins and allow us to be reconciled with Him. Through Yahshua’s sacrifice, we can once again become the possessions of YAHWEH.

Jealous is defined as “intolerant of rivalry or unfaithfulness” and “fiercely protective or vigilant of one’s rights or possessions.” When this definition is applied to the word Jealous in the Scripture, and we accept that we are His possession, it allows us to understand more clearly the intentions of YAHWEH. I am YAHWEH, your Elohim, and I will not tolerate rivalry or unfaithfulness. I am fiercely protective and vigilant of YOU, my possession. Exodus 20:4-5 illustrates the righteous jealousy that YAHWEH has for us, His possession, not jealousy of us.

Furthermore, to fully understand the meaning of Exodus 20:4-5, it’s essential to read it in context. Exodus 20:4-5 gives the second commandment, specifically addressing the act of creating, worshiping, and serving idols. YAHWEH is concerned with His possession falling prey to idols. The Bible makes it clear that there is only one El, and no others exist (See Scriptures at the bottom). Additionally, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us that our bodies are the temple of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), and that we were redeemed with a great sacrifice. Therefore, it’s not appropriate to offer up this sacred temple to idols.

So says YAHWEH, the King of Israel, and His Redeemer, YAHWEH of Hosts: I am the First, and I am the Last; and there is no Elohim except Me.

Human Example of Righteous Jealousy

When a man and woman come together in a marriage, they become bonded to each other by the covenant agreement they made with each other. Any interference with this union can trigger righteous jealousy. For instance, if a man’s wife is pursued by another man and she responds positively, it will and should cause the husband to experience righteous jealousy as she is his partner and belongs to him. Similarly, suppose a child decides to spend more time with another family instead of their own. In that case, it can lead to a sense of righteous jealousy from the parents and possibly their siblings.

Why? Because your spouse and children belong to you. This is why YAHWEH repeatedly calls us His bride and His children in the Bible (See Scriptures at the bottom). We rightfully belong to Him for three reasons: 

1. He created and loved us
2. He purchased us with the blood of his Son Yahshua
3. Covenant agreement (we are His bride). 

Conclusion

We must stop playing the harlot with idols and return to YAHWEH.

As we navigate through life, we often face trials, challenges, and setbacks that we as believers overcome because of our relationship with YAHWEH (1 John 5:4). We were made overcomers through the love and grace of YAHWEH. However, being victorious over this world comes with the unexpected problem of acquiring enemies (haters). Formidable enemies, including the Devil Satan, observe our successes and actions with a sense of unease and trepidation, knowing full well the extent of our power in Yahshua. Therefore, it’s crucial to keep in mind that these enemies seek to hinder or impede our progress. At the same time, others go to great lengths to derail us by inflicting as much damage as possible, whether spiritually, psychologically, or physically. 

Why Your Enemies Attack

Our enemies attack us out of deep-seated fear and hatred of our strength, resilience, and connection to YAHWEH. Ephesians 6:12 tells us that “our conflict is not with flesh and blood, but with principalities, and with those in authority, and with the possessors of this dark world, and with the evil spirits that are beneath heaven.” Therefore, we must recognize that our human (flesh and blood) enemies are influenced and sometimes controlled by Satan, the possessor of this dark world, prompting them to launch attacks against us.

King Adoni-Zedek Watches Yahshar’el Victories and Plots

1. And it happened, when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured Ai, and had destroyed it (as he had done to Jericho and to its king, so he had done to Ai and to her king) and that the ones living in Gibeon had made peace with Yahshar’el, and were in their midst,

2. they were greatly afraid because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.

Yahshar’el had successfully defeated two powerful nations, Jericho and Ai, one after another, and enslaved a third nation, Gibeon. As news of these triumphant victories quickly spread, King Adoni-Zedek, an enemy of Yahshar’el, became filled with fear and apprehension. However, instead of retreating or surrendering in peace like Gibeon, the king schemed and plotted to bring Yahshar’el down, much like Satan and other adversaries do. Despite his apparent fear, King Adoni-Zedek refused to back down in the face of his powerful foe, showing his unwavering determination as an enemy.

While it may seem logical to assume that instilling fear in one’s enemies will cause them to disperse and retreat, this is not always the case. In reality, those who oppose you (Satan and Enemies) tend to become more cunning and strategic when faced with fear. Rather than accepting defeat, they began plotting and scheming their next moves and conspiring against you, intending to launch their most aggressive attacks. Their ultimate goal may be to bring you down or even eliminate you completely.

What Are Your Enemies Fearful Of:

(Satan)

• Fearful that you are done with sin – James 4:7
• Fearful that you have fully committed to YAHWEH
• Fearful that you won’t turn back to him
• Fearful that you will read your Bible and learn the whole truth
• Fearful of your constant and consistent prayers
• Fearful that you will follow Yahshua no matter what till the end – Matthew 24:13

(People)

• Fearful that you are or will be better than them
• Fearful that you will get the available promotion
• Fearful and angry that you are improving and they aren’t
• Fearful that you will realize they are not your friend but a pretender (enemy)
• Fearful of the favor of YAHWEH upon your life

King Adoni-Zedek Plot Against Yahshar’el

King Adoni-Zedek devised a cunning scheme to assemble and mobilize the neighboring kingdoms and wage war against Yahshar’el. His plan succeeded as four other kings (listed in vs.5) were persuaded to join him in his mission. The coalition of kings decided to focus their aggression on Gibeon, Yahshar’el’s newly acquired territory where their temple workers lived, instead of attacking Yahshar’el directly.

This strategic move of launching indirect attacks is a tactic that Satan and your enemies often use to obstruct your progress. They attack from a distance or roundabout way, employing sly, deceitful, and covert methods to hinder your advancement, often without your knowledge. All the while secretly biding their time until their schemes appear to succeed, then the enemy strikes with full force and unleashes direct attacks.

Examples of These Attacks From Satan and Your Enemies:

(Satan)

• Spirit of discouragement
• Spirit of procrastination
• Spirit of laziness
• Spirit of depression
• Spirit of loneliness

(People)

• Talking behind your back – (gossiping)
• Smile in your face while stabbing you in the back – (Two-Faced)
• Always talking negatively about you to others – (Defamation)
• Blocking your success by persuading others against you – (Defamation)
• Setting you up for failure – (Instigate)
• Intentional microaggression

There is good news in all of this. (Romans 8:31) “WHAT THEN SHALL WE SAY TO THESE THINGS? IF YAHWEH BE FOR US, WHO CAN BE AGAINST US?” 

Conclusion

Satan and your enemies fail to realize that your success was never of your own doing. It was because you were dependent on YAHWEH. Your future success is the same. Stay dependent on YAHWEH and watch Satan and all your enemies scatter and fail.

1. Reduced from a state of native wildness, especially so as to be tractable and useful to humans: domesticated tame animals

Definition of Train:

1. Teach (a person or animal) a particular skill or type of behavior through practice and instruction over a period of time.
2. To develop or form the habits, thoughts, or behavior of (a child or other person) by discipline and instruction: to train an unruly boy.
3. To make proficient by instruction and practice, as in some art, profession, or work: to train soldiers.
4. To give the discipline and instruction, drill, practice, etc., designed to impart proficiency or efficiency.

Taming & Training

As human beings, we possess an incredible ability to train and tame animals for various purposes, including hunting, protection, entertainment, etc. Our remarkable capacity to tame and train does not stop with animals, as we can train ourselves and other humans to accomplish impressive feats like completing iron-races, mastering a musical instrument, or any accomplishment found in a Guinness World Record book. However, it’s essential to recognize that we can also unconsciously train ourselves to develop detrimental habits that can become ingrained or give rise to unhealthy behavior. This highlights the importance of being mindful of our surrounding influences and evaluating our actions to determine their impact.

The Impossible

The human mind and body are incredible creations crafted by the hands of YAWHEH with unthinkable potential. Certain individuals have tapped into this potential, performing unimaginable things without training or preparation. In most cases reported, dire circumstances, such as extreme stress, desperation, or pressure, played a role in displaying extraordinary abilities that appear beyond human capability. The astounding stories of Angela Cavallo and William Jeracki listed below serve as prime examples of this potential, showcasing a fight-or-flight response and a remarkable capacity for self-sacrifice and self-preservation in times of crisis.

• Angela Cavallo’s incredible feat of strength was on full display when she saw her son’s life hanging in the balance. This middle-aged mom and grandmother summoned tremendous amounts of hysterical strength and lifted a 3,295 lbs 1964 Chevy Impala off of her son. This courageous act not only showcased an extraordinary, unhuman-like strength but also led to her son’s rescue, saving his life.
• William Jeracki, a 38-year-old physician assistant, went fishing to St. Mary’s Glacier in the mountains outside Denver. During the fishing trip, a boulder fell on him, breaking his leg and trapping him alone in the mountains. Jeracki says he tried for a long time to free himself, but it was ultimately useless, and a decision had to be made. Out of desperation, Jeracki decided to cut off his leg in self-preservation. He made a makeshift tourniquet to slow down his blood flow, and he amputated his left leg from the knee down using a pocket knife. Then, amazingly, he embarked on a courageous journey, crawling half a mile to reach his truck and then driving an additional half mile seeking assistance.

How Amazing are Humans?

As we reflect upon the incredible achievements of humanity, from the taming of wild beasts to completing grueling Iron-races and even a regular person picking up vehicles, it can be tempting to believe that we possess the capacity to accomplish anything we set our minds to. However, this belief could not be further from the truth. It’s a false belief in self and promotes viewing oneself as a god, which is idolatry. There’s a tiny component that exists within our anatomy that remains beyond our complete control and mastery – the tongue. Even the most self-disciplined individuals cannot entirely rein in this small muscle.

James 3:8 describes the tongue as an “unrestrainable evil, full of death-dealing poison.” It’s like a hazardous weapon or an uncontrollable wild venomous animal. Fortunately, there is an antidote or solution that can tame and remove the death dealer’s natural inclination toward wildness. The remedy can restrain and make the tongue obedient, submissive, and docile yet wise and advantageous. The cure is freely available to all, but it requires us to surrender everything we have (Matthew 16:24-26) in order to receive it. By submitting to YAHWEH, repenting, and accepting the salvation offered by Yahshua, we can receive the power of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), which can and will control the tongue. However, submitting our will is the key.

If you notice that your tongue is constantly telling lies, cursing, spreading gossip, idly chattering, exaggerating everything, and launching harsh attacks of slander and defamation, you need a heart check. You need to seriously contemplate where YAHWEH and Yahshua fit into your life because your heart has confirmed to you by your constant word choice that it is indeed contaminated. We are not perfect, but as believers, we are required to examine ourselves. 2 Corinthians 13:5: “Examine yourselves, whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Or do you not yourselves realize that Yahshua Messiah is in you? If this is not true than you are rejected.“

Why Me?

Job’s Blessed Life

First, let’s examine Job, who serves as an excellent illustration of trials in the Bible. Job lived a peaceful, almost unbelievable life full of blessing, prosperity, and joy. Along with all his blessings, YAHWEH also placed a hedge of protection around Job, protecting him from the wiles of Satan and his efforts to kill, steal, and destroy. Job’s blessed life came to a screeching halt and was turned upside down as his blessed YAHWEH-protected life came into question in the heavens. Unbeknownst to Job, YAHWEH and Satan (the accuser) had a few conversations about him. As a result, everything in Job’s life became touchable by Satan except for his very life. 

Job’s Trial Experience

Job, a man of great faith and righteousness, endured an excruciating amount of suffering and pain, all inflicted upon him by the malicious actions of Ha-Satan. The exact duration of his agony is not certain, with some speculating that it lasted for days while others believe it went on for months. Regardless of the timeline, it probably felt like an eternity for Job as he watched his life crumble around him. He lost everything he held dear, including his children, wealth, health, and even the respect of his community. To make matters worse, even his own wife lost faith in him and YAHWEH. As Job’s health continued to deteriorate, his despair only grew deeper, and he began to long for answers from YAHWEH. In Job 10:2, he expressed his yearning to understand why he was being subjected to such a trial of immense suffering and misery. Job wanted YAHWEH to reveal the reason behind his tragedies, to lay out all the cards on the table, and show him why he deserved to endure such a terrible fate. 

Many of us ask Father the same types of questions. Why am I going through this? Did I do something to deserve this? Why me? Why, Why, Why!!!

12. Beloved ones, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that is coming upon you, to try you, as though some unusual matter has befallen you, 

13.  but as you share Messiah’s sufferings, rejoice, in order that you might rejoice exultingly at the revelation of His esteem.

There are many reasons why YAHWEH allows trials to come into our lives. But first, let me be clear, YAHWEH does not need to explain Himself to us because He is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, and the creator of the heavens and the Earth. Job learned this lesson when YAHWEH confronted him in Job 38-39. Nevertheless, through His Word (Bible), our loving Father provides insight into why trials come. Trials come upon us to purify, humble, create genuine faith, test, affirm our faith, show the power of YAHWEH, teach us to depend on Him, discipline, and show others that YAHWEH is dependable. 

Obtaining Gold

But He knows the way that I take [and He pays attention to it].

When He has tried me, I will come forth as [refined] gold [pure and luminous].

Extracting Gold

Let’s consider the process of acquiring gold from start to finish and see how it mirrors or parallels our own lives. Gold is naturally formed deep within the earth, stuck in hard rock deposits, a place of little to no light. Extracting this precious metal requires the use of heavy machinery and the application of high amounts of pressure to dig it out. The gold and rock are then pounded and crushed into a fine powder and treated with harsh chemicals to separate them. Similarly, before we sought YAHWEH and Yahshua, our lives were stuck in the darkness of Satan’s hard, lightless, and cruel world. Through our Father’s love, He brought forth or allowed specific trials, pressures, or burdens to break us free from the hard rock deposits of this dark world and drew us into the light of His love and salvation. Yahshua told us, “No one is able to come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me attracts and draws him and gives him the desire to come to Me…” (John 6:44 AMP).

Purifying Gold

Definition of Dross:

1. Something regarded as worthless; rubbish.
   • Ezekiel 22:18, Isaiah 1:21–23; Ezekiel 24:11–13; Ezekiel 36:25; James 1:21

Definition of Slag:

1. Stony waste matter separated from metals during the smelting or refining of ore.

The acquiring of the gold continues with the purification process, which involves smelting or refining to eliminate impurities, whether visible or not. Achieving this requires the gold to be subjected to high pressure and slowly heated temperatures exceeding 2,150 degrees Fahrenheit. Through a gradual increase in heat, the dross and slag (impurities, scum, or unwanted materials) come out and are removed. This process leaves behind gold in its desired form. Similarly, in a continued process after being brought out of this dark world, YAHWEH, through trial by fire, begins purification. He gradually turns up the pressure and heat to remove the dross and slag (works of the flesh) from our lives. These trials by fire also aim to increase our faith and build our trust in Him. These trials may come in different forms, from personal struggles to external challenges. However, being mindful of Satan’s attempts to derail us from the right path and bring us back to his fold is essential. He may use the trials we face as a tool to achieve his goals. Therefore, we must remain vigilant and steadfast in our faith, trusting that YAHWEH will guide us through our trials and lead us to a brighter future.

6. Rejoice in this, even though for a little while you may have to 

experience grief in various trials. 

7. Even gold is tested for genuineness by fire. The purpose of these trials is so that your trust’s genuineness, which is far more valuable than perishable gold, will be judged worthy of praise, glory and honor at the revealing of Yahshua the Messiah.

Selecting the Karat

The final stage of acquiring gold has arrived, the determination, selecting, or choosing the karat of gold. The karat measures the purity of gold and its hardness. Karats range from 6k-24k, and 100% purity is unattainable.

• 9k – 37% Gold – 63% Impurity Hard Gold
• 10k – 41% Gold – 58% Impurity
• 14k – 58% Gold – 41% Impurity
• 18k – 75% Gold – 25% Impurity
• 22k – 91% Gold – 09% Impurity
• 24k – 99.95% Pure Gold – Softes Gold

As we live out our faith and live for YAHWEH, He will grow us in faith through trials. Just like it is unattainable for gold to be 100% pure, humans cannot be perfect. Yahshua was the only person to walk this Earth in 100% purity and perfection, so we must strive to be like Him. Father does not want us at 9k, 10k, 14k, 18k, or 22k because they all have too many impurities and are too hard. Father wants us at 24k, which is pure, incredibly soft, and moldable. 

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

James 1:12

Conclusion

Having faith in Father and His trial process is of utmost importance when it comes to achieving success in the gold-making process of your life. Father possesses intricate knowledge about the exact temperature and duration required to obtain the desired outcome. Rushing the process can have detrimental effects on the quality of the gold (your faith). Therefore, it is vital to trust YAHWEH‘s expertise and have patience with the process, as He is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, and the creator of the Heavens and the Earth.

New Normal

Sin, in many ways, uncovers and exposes us, leaving us naked for all to see and open for scrutiny and judgment. However, modern-day acceptance of sin has blurred the lines of right and wrong, fulfilling Bible prophecy of a lawless world (Matthew 24:12). Due to sin’s normalization and desensitization, the nakedness of sin (a sense of vulnerability, humiliation, shame, guilt, and judgment) has seemingly been washed away, removing the desire or urge to repent. Additionally, the misunderstanding of Grace taught through the lens of false Christian doctrine has also led to this blurred confusion (See Recap and Living Under Grace). 

Engaging in evil is like sport to the fool [who refuses wisdom and chases sin], But to a man of understanding [skillful and godly] wisdom brings joy. (Meaning someone foolish tends to underestimate the gravity of sin and its repercussions.)

Every prudent one deals with knowledge, but a fool lays open his folly. (Meaning fools take pride in or flaunt their sins or wrongdoings.)

Our societies have moved so far in the wrong direction that sin is now celebrated openly in church buildings, pulpits, parades, and fought for in protests. These celebrations and actions indicate little to no connection to the nakedness (shame) of sin. Proverbs 10:23, 13:16 indicate that only fools flaunt their sin opening. There is nothing natural about wanting to be naked in front of people. Equally, we should not think living in open sin or direct opposition against our creator YAHWEH is natural. In fact, regardless of one’s religious beliefs, the mere idea of being naked in front of people evokes feelings of shame, discomfort, and uneasiness for most people, as was the case with Adam and Eve (Gen 3:7-10). It is a natural human response to feel vulnerable in nakedness, just as it should to sin.

Being naked physically makes us vulnerable to the elements and other outside things. Spiritual nakedness also makes us vulnerable, opening us up to attacks from Satan and making us more susceptible to our fleshly desires.

The similarities between Adam and Noah

6 And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and the tree was desirable to make one wise. And she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 

7 And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were NAKED. And they sewed leaves of the fig tree, and made girdles for themselves. 

8 And they heard the sound of YAHWEH Elohim walking up and down in the garden at the breeze of the day. And the man and his wife hid themselves from the face of YAHWEH Elohim in the middle of the trees of the garden.

20 And Noah, a man of the ground, began and planted a vineyard. 

21 And he drank from the wine, and was drunk. And he uncovered himself inside his tent. (*He was NAKED)

  • He cursed Canaan, his grandson, son of Ham, to be a slave of slaves. 
  • He cursed Shem to inherit Canaan as slaves, which would make them slaves, remember, Canaan would be slave of slaves. 
  • He cursed Japheth in the same manner, making them slaves, but he also added in Gen 9:27 that Japheth would be pāṯâ H6601 (persuaded, seduced, deceived, enlarged) and live in the tent (home or land) of Shem (Yashar’el or Israel). Pāṯâ H6601 is used in the Bible about 28 times and is only used in this verse as enlarged. The enlarge here points more toward enlarging one’s self with pride, or possibly enlarge does not fit at all, and one of the other words should be inserted instead like the other 27 times throughout scripture. The Hebrew word raḥaḇ H7337 (enlarge) is used everywhere else in the Bible when referring to increasing territory, borders, or wealth. Ham is the only one that was not cursed. I will not go further into this as this would be a whole study on its own. 

Adam Sin and Nakedness

Adams’s disobedience to a command of YAHWEH (Gen 2:16–17) “introduced us all (Romans 5:12) to the “law of sin” (Romans 7:23) and the “law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2). (See To Sin or Not to Sin, that is the question! PT.1 and 2 for more info on Adam’s sin and what it means for humanity). After Adam realized the weight of his transgression, a sense of shame overcame him, leading him to cover himself with leaves and hide from YAHWEH (Gen 3:7-10). It’s natural to feel the guilt and shame that comes from the nakedness of our sins, but we don’t have to be consumed by those emotions. Our Father in Heaven is faithful to forgive our sins through the redeeming blood of His Son Yahshua (1 John 1:9-10).

Noah Sin and Nakedness

In the Bible, there is no direct mention of Noah being a drunkard or an alcoholic, which according to Ephesians 5:18, we should not do, and according to 1 Cor 6:9-10 would keep one from inheriting the Kingdom of YAHWEH. However, there is a recorded incident where Noah became intoxicated, naked, and vulnerable. Due to his drunken stupor, Noah left himself open and helpless. He could not protect himself from whomever and whatever was done to him. We might not be in a drunken state due to alcohol, but we are drunk on the ways of this world, and because of that, we are naked (vulnerable) in front of Satan, and he loves every second of it. When we live a life of sin and disobedience to Father, we are naked and exposed spiritually, family-wise, socially, and financially. 

Conclusion

When we live a life of sin and disobedience to Father, we are naked and exposed spiritually, family-wise, socially, and financially. We are out of place and unable to correct or defend things and situations. Noah would not have been violated if he didn’t sin and become drunk. Adam would have never known sin and shame if he didn’t eat the fruit, and his son Cain would have never killed Able. But, they both were naked and unable to respond correctly due to sin. 

No perfect people exist on this planet. We all have sinned and come short of the Father’s glory. However, we must refrain from living a life of sin and disobedience. This will allow us to be in a position, ready to respond appropriately and to remain covered in the blood of the Yahshua. If you are living a life of sin, repent to YHWH, turn from a sinful life, and receive Yahshua (YAHWEH Salvation).

Note: YAHWEH covered Adam’s nakedness for him by sacrificing an innocent animal for skin (Gen 3:21). He sent His innocent Son Yahshua for us as the sacrificial Passover Lamb for our sins*.

Buffet and the Word of YAHWEH

When you think of a buffet, you might envision various culinary delights such as steak, ribs, seafood, chicken, brussels sprouts, liver, chickpeas, and endless desserts. Wait! WHAT? Brussels sprouts, liver, and chickpeas? Yes, there may also be options that may not appeal to you. Nonetheless, the beauty of a buffet lies in the freedom of partiality to pick and choose what you desire. Plus, if you try something new that doesn’t suit your taste, you can simply move on to other options. Isn’t that great?

Unfortunately, many believers and non-believers tend to treat the Word of YAHWEH like a buffet. Selectively picking or choosing what they wish to believe, eating what they want or what their doctrine (diet) allows while keeping the rest of the Bible pushed off to the side or off the plate altogether. However, it must be emphasized that the Bible is not a collection of optional items to choose from based on personal preferences. Neither is it a smorgasbord of our likes and dislikes. It is a comprehensive guidebook for living a righteous life in accordance with the Father’s will. We should not ignore or overlook parts of the Bible, like vegetables we don’t want to eat, nor should we refuse to read the Bible like we reject certain foods. Yahshua and His Brother James demonstrated understanding, knowledge, and wisdom in this matter, which we shall examine in depth.

Definition of Partiality:

1. Inclined to favor one party more than the other.
2. Markedly fond of or to someone or something. 

Definition of Cherry-pick:

1. To select the best or most desirable.
2. Choose and take only (the most beneficial or profitable items, opportunities, etc.) from what is available.

Yahshua and the Word of YAHWEH

Before starting His ministry on earth, Yahshua was tempted by the Devil, as recorded in Matthew 4:1-11, Mark 1:13, Luke 4:1–13. Yahshua was fasting for 40 days and feeling tired and hungry. The Devil came along and tempted Yahshua three times. Yahshua fought all three temptations with the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of YAHWEH (Ephesians 6:17, Hebrews 4:12). Interestingly, Yahshua first quoted Deuteronomy 8:3 to Satan in the first temptation “Man shall not live by bread alone, but man shall live by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of YAHWEH.” These events teach us two important lessons: how to resist temptation using YAHWEH’s Word and, more importantly, the significance of the Word of YAHWEH.

In using Bible Scripture, Yahshua confirms that the written Scripture in the Bible is, in fact, the Word of YAHWEH. Paul also confirmed in 2 Timothy 3:16 that all scriptures in the Bible are from YAHWEH or YAHWEH Breathed. It is important to note that when Paul was writing his letters to Timothy and the rest of his epistles, the only thing considered Scripture was the Torah (Old Testament) and the writing of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, as Paul does quote Luke 10:7 in 1 Timothy 5:18. However, the Apostel Peter does later accept the writings of Paul as Scripture as indicated in 2 Peter 3:15-16. Nevertheless, the conclusion remains, we can not and must not be Cherry-pickers of the Word of YAHWEH, but accept every word wholeheartedly and live by them, Old and New Testament. 

James and the Word of YAHWEH

My brothers, do not with partiality uphold the glorious faith of our Master Yahshua Messiah. 

James 2:1

James, the brother of Yahshua, explains in James 2:1-13 that believers are not to exhibit partiality when dealing with people or Scripture. Specifically, verses 2-9 warn us against the danger of using partiality to include or exclude individuals based on their wealth, social status, ethnicity, nationality, or culture. Instead, we are called as believers to walk in love and recognize that YAHWEH sent His Son to die for ALL, offering salvation to everyone, regardless of their status in life. We don’t have the authority to select who receives salvation or determine if a person is worthy of salvation. (See To Sin or Not to Sin, that is the question! PT.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 as well as True Repentance).

Jonah, a prophet of YAHWEH, initially struggled with partiality and the idea of preaching to the people of Nineveh, whom he deemed unworthy of YAHWEH’s grace. However, after spending time in the belly of a fish and suffering a heat stroke, Jonah came to understand that YAHWEH’s salvation is available to ALL who turn towards Him, regardless of their past actions or beliefs. Read the entire book of Jonah for the details. Throughout the Bible, YAHWEH provides examples of Himself not being a respecter of person Romans 2:11-16 *11, Acts 10:25-37 *34, Proverbs 28:21. As believers, we should follow these examples and avoid showing partiality, being racist, or prejudiced, as this is considered a sin according to verse 9. 

Though showing partiality toward people was not the point of this Food for Thought, it was necessary to mention it so that we could stay in the context of James 2:1-13. In Verses 10-13, James highlights another partiality that people have, selective obedience or cherry-picking what commands of YAHWEH should be obeyed and which can be disregarded. This behavior is reckless and must be avoided at all costs to keep from a distorted understanding and the Lake of Fire.

You can’t say, “I like YAHWEH’s commands against stealing and murdering, so I’ll keep those. However, I don’t like or agree with His command against adultery or needing to keep the 7th-day sabbath, so I will ignore those”. This sort of cherry-picking was prevalent then and has exploded in our modern-day culture. We must live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of YAHWEH, for He values His whole law and His words, and we should as well.

Conclusion

We all need a fully balanced meal. Eating kale, brussels sprouts, and some mushrooms may be challenging, but they are good for our bodies and longevity. Just the same is the word of YAHWEH. We don’t get to pick and choose what fits into our lives from the Bible. We are here to follow the will of YAHWEH as it’s laid out in His Word, not edit out the parts that don’t fit into our little worlds or the things we deem too difficult. Yahshua told us in Matthew 16:24 that we would be required to deny ourselves in order to follow him.

Have you ever vowed a vow to YAHWEH, vows that you fully intended to keep but “somehow” forgot or reneged on? For instance, you may have bound yourself to a conditional vow and said, “YAHWEH, if you get me out of this situation,” or “If you give me this one thing, I will do….“. Another type of vow would be an unconditional vow in which you bind yourself without expecting anything in return. An example of an unconditional vow would be vowing an offering to YAHWEH or promising to sustain from something.

As humans, we often say things without thinking, in this case, making oaths or vows without first acknowledging the totality of the commitment. If you have ever failed to keep your vows to YAHWEH, it is vital to have an admission of guilt and repentance. The Almighty is always willing to forgive us. Still, our responsibility is to seek His forgiveness and make things right. Remember that keeping our vows and oaths to YAHWEH shows our faith and devotion, and it is crucial to follow through with, as YAHWEH called it, SIN.

When a man vows a vow to YAHWEH, or has sworn an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word; he shall do all that has gone out of his mouth.

Biblical Accounts of Vows

• Conditional
  • Jacob vowed to make YAHWEH his Elohim if YAHWEH would keep him and provide for him Genesis 28:20-22
  • Jephthah vowed to offer as a burnt offering the first thing that came out of his house upon returning from battle if  YAHWEH gave him success in war. Unfortanly, his daughter was the first thing out of the house. Judges 11:30-35
  • Hannah vowed her son to YAHWEH if he blessed her with a child 1 Samuel 1:11, 19-20, 27-28
• Unconditional
  • David publicly expressed that he would pay his vow, a sacrificial act of gratitude. Psalms 116:14
  • Paul voluntarily took the Nazarite vow per Acts 18:18. The Nazarite vow is Numbers 6:1-21

Little to no Thought

In today’s time, we take very lightly making commitments to people, casually breaking them without considering the consequences. We say things like: 

• I’m going to pray more.
• I’m going to start reading and studying the Bible.
• I’ll call you tomorrow.
• I promise I’ll take you next time (Parents).
• I’ll pay you back.
• I’m going to start witnessing and spreading the Good News of YAHWEH and Yahshua.
• I’m going to abstain from sexual immoralities.
• The most significant broken vow we fail to uphold is “TILL DEATH DO US PART.”

We take this same slackness and apply it to the Father. In Deuteronomy: 23:21-23 we see that when you vow something to YAHWEH, there is no question of the binding force of the vow; you are bound to fulfill your word. According to Psalm 15:4, true followers of YAHWEH possess strong character and always keep their word, even if it may cause them pain. A Bible Believing Believer (BBB) is not double-minded or forgetful but loyal to YAHWEH in every aspect of life. Yahshua’s teachings in Matthew 5 reinforce this biblical principle. Again, Vows or Oaths are binding even when those made casually or privately should be taken seriously and kept. YAHWEH does not accept any excuses or loopholes for breaking a promise.

4. When you vow a vow to Elohim, do not wait to fulfill it. For He has no pleasure in fools. Fulfill that which you have vowed.

5. It is better that you should not vow, than that you should vow and not fulfill it.

Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 (HRB)

Stay committed to the vows you vowed first and foremost to YAHWEH (reading your word daily, praying daily, and staying devoted to the things you promised Him). Secondly, remain committed to the vows you vowed to yourself (diets, budgets, sexual purity, and exercise). Thirdly, stay committed to the vows you vowed to others (pay back what you borrowed, be there for others like you said you would, and fulfill what you promised your children). Stop making promises you never intended to execute. You own the words out of your mouth, so be careful with them.

Definition of Omnipresent and its meaning:

1. Present in all places at all times

   • YAHWEH is not locally limited to any time or space. YAHWEH is everywhere and in every now (past, present, and future).

Definition of Omniscient:

1. Having infinite awareness, understanding, and insight.
2. Possessed of universal or complete knowledge.
3. Psalm 147:5, 1 John 3:20, Psalm 147:5

Our heavenly Father, YAHWEH, has multiple divine attributes that we attempt to define despite our limited human understanding (Isaiah 55:8–9; Ephesians 3:20–21). Today we will examine two of the characteristics, omnipresent and omniscient. His omnipresent nature allows him to be present everywhere simultaneously (past, present, and future), while being omniscient indicates an infinite knowledge of all things. However, as mere mortals, our cognitive abilities leave us with limitations, and we will never fully grasp the full extent of YAHWEH. Therefore, it is essential to anchor our complete trust in Him and rest in His plans for our lives. Submitting ourselves to his will enables Him to guide us through every facet of our daily endeavors.

For I know the purposes which I am planning for you, says YAHWEH; purposes of peace, and not for evil; to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11

Judges 6-7 exemplify how an ordinary man with all of his flaws and reservations follows the plan of YAHWEH.

For seven years, YAHWEH allowed Midian to rule over and oppress the Israelites as a consequence of their sinful ways. During that time, Yashar’el (Israel) was broken, fearful, and humbled to the extent that they were not living as civilized people. They were reduced to living as cave dwellers with little hope of defending themselves against their oppressors. During harvest times, the Midianites, Amalekites, and the sons of the east would raid the Israelites’ farms and take all their produce and livestock, leaving them with nothing. When it became unbearable, Yashar’el cried out to YAHWEH (2 Chronicles 7:14), and He heard them. YAHWEH began setting up His plan to free his children from servitude, oppression, and cruelty. Interestingly, in Judges 6:13, Gideon hints that YAHWEH has abandoned them and questions their father’s story about how great YAHWEH was and is.

Gideon Chosen by YAHWEH

YAHWEH called upon Gideon to lead the children of Yashar’el in a crucial battle against the Midianites. However, Gideon initially hesitated to accept this daunting task due to his feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt, cowardice, and fear. He explained to YAHWEH that his family was the weakest of the Manasseh tribe, and he was the least within that family. Therefore, Gideon wanted to ensure that the omniscient YAHWEH was 110% certain he was the man for the task. Gideon requested three miraculous signs to prove this, all of which were fulfilled (Judges 6:17,20-21 and Judges 6:36-40). These signs not only bolstered Gideon’s confidence but also demonstrated that YAHWEH does not make mistakes. He will be patient and understanding with His children while providing confirmation.

You sift my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. 

Psalms 139:3

After receiving the confirmation, Gideon gathered and settled an army uphill of the Midianite, Amalekite, and the sons of the east armies. I can imagine Gideon and his generals pheir attack. Saying things like: even though they outnumber us we have the advantage, we have the high ground, we have the element of surprise. However, YAHWEH had his own plan. His plan called for a fraction of the men Gideon assembled in the army, a little under 1% of the men.

As Gideon received confirmation of his assignment from YAHWEH, he quickly gathered his army on a strategic hill overlooking the Midianite, Amalekite, and the sons of the east troops. I can imagine the scene as Gideon and his generals meticulously planned their attack, weighing the advantages of their high ground and element of surprise against the odds of being vastly outnumbered. However, as events unfolded, it became clear that YAHWEH had a different plan for them. In a surprising turn of events, YAHWEH had use for a tiny fraction of the men Gideon had assembled – less than 1% – to carry out the divine strategy and achieve a stunning victory. (Please read the entirety of Judges 6-7 for all the details).

• Israelites: 32,000 VS Midianites: 135,000
• That’s about 1 Israelite per 4 Midianites.

Odds of victory: Ok, with the element of surprise and high ground.

The first plan of YAHWEH.

• Israelites: 10,000 VS Midianites: 135,000

• That’s about 1 Israelite per 14 Midianites.

Odds of victory: Bad, but maybe doable.

The second and final plan of YAHWEH.

• Israelites: 300 VS Midianites: 135,000

• That’s 1 Israelite per 450 Midianites.

Odds of victory: Impossible, without YAHWEH.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you, My eye shall be on you.

With the final plan and odds, what would you do?

• Would you trust in the limitless power and knowledge of YAHWEH, or are you gradually depending on your abilities and strategies? 
• Would you have unwavering faith that YAHWEH‘s plan will lead and support you, regardless of the circumstances? Or would you feel overwhelmed and uncertain with the challenging situations? 
• Would you embrace living or dying for the plan of YAHWEH, or would you feel frightened, overwhelmed, and uncertain?

I can understand that when YAHWEH asked you to move forward in His purpose and plan, you may experience fear and doubt in your heart like Gideon did. But be encouraged and know that YAHWEH is with you, mighty warrior of valor” (Judges 6:12). I implore you to get into YAH’s presence as Gideon did for confirmation and strength to move forward. YAH will give you the courage and the resources you need to accomplish His plan. You will have to trust that His plan is infallible; and that He will not lead you into destruction but to victory! Look and examine Gideon’s real-life experience for motivation and to increase your Faith in YAH. Gideon successfully defeated 135,000 Midianites with his army of 300 Men. Gideon fully trusted YAHWEH to deliver him and his army from the hands of the Midianites. Now it is your turn to increase your Faith and Trust in YAH. Know that if He did it for Gideon, He will do it for you too.

As Bible Believing Believers (BBBs), we must trust in YAHWEH and Yahshua with everything we have and trust that He knows what is best, because He does. Father knows our comings and our going, our past, present, and future. Every plan He revealed to you, you will prevail and win if you believe and trust in Him. Remember, the precepts of our ancient Fathers, “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says YAHWEH” Zechariah 4:6) and (Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will trust in the name of YAHWEH our Elohim. Psalm 20:7). We should not put our trust in our money, military, government, things, people, or idols. Our trust should be in YAHWEH and His plan.

The account of Yahshua and the paralyzed man is a powerful reminder of the potency of faith in action or living out one’s faith. Luke 5:18-20, 24-26, Mark 2:2-5, 9-12, and Matthew 9:2, 6-8 tell of the same historical event. Today we will look at the event shared in the book of Luke. 

18. And, behold, men carrying on a cot a man who was paralyzed. And they sought to bring him in, and to lay him before Him. 

19. And not finding a way through which they might bring him in through the crowd, going up on the housetop, they let him down through the tiles with the cot, into the midst, in front of Yahshua. 

20. And SEEING THEIR FAITH, He said to him, Man, your sins have been forgiven you.

24. But that you may know that the Son of Man has the authority on the earth to forgive sins, He said to the paralytic, I say to you, Rise up, and take your cot and go to your house. 

25. And rising up at once before them, taking up that on which he was lying, he went to his house glorifying YAHWEH. 

26. And amazement seized all, and they glorified Elohim, and were filled with fear, saying, We saw wonderful things today.

Luke 5:18-20, 24-26

Yahshua’s reputation for teaching and healing had spread far and wide, attracting large crowds wherever he went. One day Yahshua was in a house surrounded by people outside and overflowing within. On this same day, some men brought their paralyzed friend on a cot, hoping to get him healed by Yahshua. The sheer size of the crowd could have easily deterred the man’s friends, yet they refused to be discouraged. The men being persistent, navigated through the immense multitude to the house. However, upon arriving at the house, they discover Yahshua is inaccessible due to the massive amount of people inside. 

Still, the man’s friends unwavering dedication and determination pushed past the impossibility. They ingeniously devised a plan to get their ailing friend to Yahshua and acted on it. The men climbed up the side of the house, got on the roof, and began ripping tiles off the roof, creating a hole. Once the hole was big enough for the cot to fit, they pulled their friend up to the rooftop and lowered him down to Yahshua. 

After the men lower their paralyzed friend to Yahshua, the Bible presents something interesting about faith. It says that Yahshua SEEING THEIR FAITH (Emunah and Pistis) forgave the man’s sins and later healed him. This event sheds light on what the Apostle Yaʿaqov (James brother of Yahshua) suggested when he said in James 2:18, “I WILL SHOW YOU MY FAITH BY MY DEEDS (actions, behaviors, labor, and works).” Their actions also serve as a reminder that faith without action is dead or empty. James 2:17 eloquently articulates this point, stating that “faith, if it does not have deeds, is dead being by itself.” Let us all be encouraged by the faith of the paralyzed man’s friends and strive to take purposeful steps in our own lives, demonstrating our unwavering belief.

These men demonstrated their strong faith in Yahshua through their actions, which were apparent to Him and others. They were determined to bring their friend to Yahshua without regard for who was watching or who was being offended, even if it meant damaging the homeowner’s roof. While I do not support damaging someone else’s property, I do believe in living out one’s faith regardless of who may be offended.

Heroes of Faith

Hebrews 11 outlines a few historical people in the Bible who were faith heroes. When reading the chapter, you will see they all had behaviors, deeds, works, and actions motivated by Emunah, which showed Pistis (full persuasion).

• Vs. 5 Enoch pleased
• Vs. 7 Noah built an ark
• Vs. 8 Abraham went
• Vs. 9 Abraham stayed (yes, sometimes staying is an act of faith)
• Vs. 11 Sarah received (she was open to receiving)
• Vs. 17 Abraham offered up
• Vs. 20 Isaac blessed
• Vs. 21 Jacob blessed and worshiped
• Vs. 22 Joseph gave instructions
• Vs. 25 Moses chose
• Vs. 27 – 29 Moses left, endured, instituted, and crossed
• Vs. 30 Israelites encircled the walls of Jericho
• Vs. 31 Rahab received
• Vs. 32 – 35 Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets who by faith:
  • Overcame kingdoms
  • Worked out righteousness
  • Obtained promises
  • Stopped the mouths of lions
  • Quenched the power of fire
  • Escaped the mouths of the sword
  • Acquired power from weakness
  • Became strong in war
  • Made armies of foreigners to yield
  • Restored to women, their sons
  • Raised people from the dead

Heroes of Faith that Were Persecuted

Living out your faith for all to see can become complicated, especially for those living in countries where it’s illegal to be a believer, pray, or have a Bible. However, Matthew 5:10 promises, “Blessed are they who have been persecuted (victimized, oppressed, afflicted, tortured, murdered) for righteousness’s sake! For theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.“

Hebrews 11, verses 35 – 38 outline other fully persuaded people that didn’t gain victory on earth. These folks were persecuted for living out their faith in the ways listed below:

• Beaten to death
• Received trial of mocking
• Scourged (whipped)
• Chained and Imprisoned
• Stoned to death
• Sawed in two
• Murdered by sword
• Were given sheepskins and goatskins to wear while being made destitute (without the basic necessities of life)
• Afflicted
• Ill-treated
• Stephen is an excellent example of this found in Acts 6-7.
• Yahshua is the ultimate example of this (To sin or not to sin, that is the question.

Are you Fully Persuaded for YAH?

Life as a Bible Believing Believer (BBB) has some locked-in requirements set by YAHWEH that automatically set you apart and may even lead to persecution. Spreading the good news and keeping the Sabbath are two examples that are sure to make you stand out. To truly live out your faith, it’s crucial to love Yahshua and obey His commandments (John 14:15). So, are you willing to persevere through persecution for the sake of your faith (persuasion), as exemplified in Hebrew 11:35-38? Would you eagerly preach the good news of salvation like Stephen when faced with certain death? Can you follow in the footsteps of Yahshua and deny yourself even to the torture stake Matthew 16:24? If you answered no to these questions, you may not be as persuaded as you thought. 

Gauge yourself:

• If you tell your friends, associates, or someone you work with that you are a Believer, would they agree that you are? 
• If you look at yourself in the mirror, would you say you are a Believer according to the Bible?
• Does your deeds, works, actions, behavior, and speech magnify your faith, and does it cause others to glorify YAHWEH?

It is evident worldwide that many Christians have diluted the Word of YAHWEH or deviated from the original teachings of the Bible, which originated with the Israelites or Hebrews (Deut. 14:2 and Deut. 7:6). There are many noticeable biblical deviations when referencing living out one’s faith. However, today let’s look at the mindset of Faith. 

Definition of Faith

1. Complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
2. Strong belief in a god or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.
3. Places the action upon the subject rather than its object, as in faith in YAHWEH.

Definition of Emunah (Faith in Hebrew)

1. Action-oriented involving active support.
2. innate conviction, a perception of truth that transcends, rather than evades, reason
3. Places the action upon the object, as in support YAHWEH.

Explaining the Concept of Faith and Action.

Allowing your faith to be defined in your life by words alone, internalized thoughts, feelings, or the notion that all you need to do is believe, is flawed doctrine. Faith was always meant to function as emunah. Emunah is not actionless faith, it’s faith completed by works, actions, or deeds.

Example: Imagine you have faith that the light in the room will turn on if you flip the power switch, but you never get up and flip the switch. Your Faith remains in your head as knowledge of a possibility, a feeling, or a belief that something is plausible. Whereas emunah does not remain an intellectual concept in your head, you act on it because you have a belief in the light turning on.

The Apostle Yaʿaqov (James), brother of Yahshua (Galatians 1:18-19), profoundly understood how a believer in YAHWEH should conduct themselves. The Apostle firmly believed that true believers, including himself, ought to exemplify their faith through their actions ( behavior, works, or deeds). Displaying your faith to the world is not for show, and it can not and will not obtain salvation for you. Salvation can only come from Yahshua. However, living out your faith displays irrefutable evidence to the world that you are indeed a devout follower of YAHWEH and Yahshua Ha-Mashiach. In Matthew 16:24, Yahshua told His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and let him bear his torture stake, and let him follow Me.” This is what we must do, deny ourselves daily and determine to obey his will, which will cause us to display our faith and obedience. This type of faith shows an unwavering conviction and unrelenting dedication to the teachings of YAHWEH.

Apostle Yaʿaqov Perspective on Faith and Deeds

Apostle Yaʿaqov offers a clear and concise explanation of the often misunderstood connection between faith and deeds in James 2:14, James 2:17-18. To gain a deeper understanding of this concept, we will approach the Scriptures with the same level of analysis as a Berean. It’s essential to take note of the Greek word for faith, which is “Pistis,” a term that embodies the notions of persuasion and conviction. When individuals are thoroughly or fully persuaded of something, they are unwavering in their beliefs, even when faced with opposing evidence. The Greek word for deeds is “Ergon,” a term that encapsulates one’s actions, deeds, and works. Essentially, the scriptures convey that faith and deeds are closely intertwined. If there is no tangible evidence of one’s persuasion (faith) displayed through their behavior, works, or deeds, then their faith is either dead or insincere. In other words, if an individual’s faith is genuinely alive and authentic, then it will be reflected in their actions and words, not merely in their spoken beliefs. True faith will result in good deeds, actions, works, and the manifestation of the fruit of the spirit.

Where did the Apostle Yaʿaqov get this thinking or perspective? Perhaps from his big brother Yahshua. In John 14:11, Yahshua said, “Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me; BUT IF NOT, believe Me because of the works themselves. Yahshua is telling the people to believe in Him, but if they can not take His word for it, believe because of the deeds or works He was doing. Therefore presenting as conformation that works, actions, or deeds are used as proof.

Abraham’s Pistis and Emunah on Display

Lastly, Romans 4:20-22 says, But he (Abraham) did not doubt or waver in unbelief concerning the promise of YAHWEH, but he grew strong and empowered by faith, giving glory to YAHWEH, being FULLY PERSUADED that YAHWEH had the power to do what He had promised. Therefore his faith was credited to him as righteousness (right standing with YAHWEH).   

1. YAHWEH told Abraham to leave his land, family, and everything he knew and go to a land He would show him. Abraham showed unwavering trust and belief in YAHWEH as he departed into uncharted territory with his family. He demonstrated his faith through his actions without any doubts or hesitation. This was a profound act of faith. (Genesis 12:1-5)
2. YAHWEH tested Abraham by telling him to sacrifice his one and only son to Him. With no hesitation, Abraham took his son Issac up to be sacrificed (Genesis 22:1-19). Abraham’s faith was in the promise YAHWEH made to him in Genesis 15:5 that his descendants would be as the count of the stars in the sky.

Let’s all understand faith like the Apostle Ya’aqov and be fully persuaded like Abraham, demonstrating our faith through our actions.

Many believers struggle with the fear of offending others with their faith in YAHWEH and Yahshua and being hated for it. This fear causes numerous believers to constantly worry or be overly concerned with how others perceive them. Fear leads to anxiety, and anxiety produces more fear. Unfortunately, for most, this combination is lethal and paralyzing. This combination can prevent you from expressing your faith and cause you to feel isolated from others who do not share your beliefs.

Being trapped in this fear hinders believers’ ability to embrace and live out their faith and beliefs. YAHWEH has charged each believer to live a set-apart life (1 Peter 1:15-16) and to spread the good news of salvation to the world (Mark 16:15). Therefore, as believers, this type of FEAR is incompatible with our faith. It is important to remember that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions, and sharing your faith respectfully and without fear is perfectly acceptable. By embracing and practicing your faith openly and being true to yourself, you can find comfort and strength in your faith and may even inspire others to join you as a BBB (Bible Believing Believer). Remember, it was Yahshua who sent us out among wolves, so we need to be wise in our movements around them.

Speaking Your Faith

7. For YAHWEH did not give a spirit of cowardice (fear) to us, but of power and of love and of good discipline. 

8. Then do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Master, nor of me, His prisoner. But suffer hardship with the good news, according to the power of Elohim,

When YAHWEH places it upon your heart to share your faith or testimony with another person, it’s essential to have faith that YAHWEH will provide you with the strength, love, and fortitude you need to do so effectively. Sometimes, feelings of cowardice or nervousness may arise, and you might become ashamed, but it’s crucial to recognize that these emotions are coming from yourself or Ha-Satan, rather than from YAHWEH. So instead, trust in His guidance and believe in the power, love, and good discipline YAHWEH placed in you to spread His message confidently. Remember that YAHWEH is always with you, supporting and empowering you every step of the way.

In 2 Timothy 1:8, Paul emphasizes to Timothy that he must not allow himself to feel ashamed of the testimony of Yahshua. Paul knew that the plan of YAHWEH for salvation through Yahshua seemed foolish and unconventional to many and that following a crucified Master and proclaiming Him as savior was not popular. Despite this knowledge and the challenges and persecutions that would come with it, Paul understood that this was the only way for lives to be transformed and souls redeemed. So, Paul never wavered in living out his faith and urged Timothy, and now us through the living word of YAHWEH, to do the same. It is imperative that we rid ourselves of any feelings of shame or embarrassment towards Yahshua so that we can openly and freely share the good news with others. When we feel ashamed of something, we tend to conceal it, distance ourselves from it, or even try to mask it to avoid negative attention or criticism. In order to truly embody the teachings of Yahshua, we must let go of any shame or fear and embrace our faith with confidence, conviction, and certainty.

My wife and I recently purchased a flip phone for our teenage daughter to use in case of emergencies and for us to reach her. However, to our surprise, she acted like it was the worst thing ever. My daughter felt ashamed and embarrassed to have it with her and petrified of the social woes she would face if she used it in public. She would turn the ringer down or off and hide far away from her friends when talking on it, fearing that someone would see her using it. Unfortunately, my daughter’s embarrassment never faded but grew into disobedience. She started intentionally leaving the phone at home and pretending not to know its whereabouts. As with my daughter, being ashamed will increase if not dealt with and will override your sense of obedience to YAHWEH. You don’t want to get to the point where you are so ashamed of the good news of Yahshua that you fall into disobedience.

We mustn’t allow shame to fester and hinder us from sharing the good news. As faithful followers, it’s our obligation to spread the message of salvation with pride and openness to all who are willing to receive it. It’s a responsibility we must fulfill without any hesitation. It’s essential to keep in mind that we all deserve the love and redemption that comes with accepting the good news. 

Living Out Your Faith

32. Then everyone who shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father in Heaven. 

33. But whoever denies Me before men, I also will deny him before My Father in Heaven.

We become somewhat useless and powerless when we don’t let go of the fear, ashamedness, and anxiety of living out our faith. How are people to know who you are and what you stand for if you are not living or willing to live by the scriptures, hiding who you are, scared to be a witness, scared to tell your testimony, and afraid to live in obedience to the word of YAHWEH for the risks or fear of offending others. We’re not supposed to blend in, fade into the background, or be indistinguishable from the world. We are 1 Peter 2:9 – “an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy people…that you should proclaim the praises of Him (YAHWEH) who called you out of darkness to His precious light.” Believers are set apart and meant to be different from others. We are to be a light to the world, illuminating the message and the ways of YAHWEH and the Messiah Yahshua through our lives for all to see. (Matthew 5:14).

Matthew 10:32-33 tells us that if we confess Yahshua before men, he will confess us to YAHWEH the Father in heaven. However, if we deny Him before men, He will deny us before YAHWEH the Father in heaven. This means that those who dissociate themselves from YAHWEH and Yahshua for the sake of family, relationships, friendships, wealth, popularity, or freedom(s) will be rejected by the Father. In other words, you refused association with Yahshua on earth through disobedience, therefore you will not be able to or be allowed to claim association with Him in eternity.

The World Lives Out it’s Faith

The world surely lives out its faith in self and the devil and flaunts it proudly with no shame for all to see. A smoker/vaper will blow smoke in your presence, the drunkard will drink and get drunk in your presence, the LGBTQ+ will take over a whole community and have a parade in your presence, and people will use foul language and tell nasty jokes in your presence, etc… But in the meantime, you are scared/ashamed to open your Bible in public, you close your Bible app when someone gets close, you feel awkward about sharing the good news of salvation, you rush through blessing your food, and you are afraid to use the personal name of our Father, “YAHWEH” etc. To add insult to injury, you sometimes join the world (James 4:4) by calling yourself a casual smoker, social or stress drinker, part-time cusser, little white liar, etc. But you never invite them to do or observe the things of YAHWEH.  

I encourage everyone to live out their faith in YAHWEH. May YAHWEH bless you.

It is of utmost importance for us as believers in YAHWEH the Father and Yahshua the Son, our Messiah, to share the message of salvation and abide by the teachings of Scripture(s). However, it is disheartening to note that our dedication to living out our faith will sometimes result in unfavorable perceptions and treatment from others. Such negative reactions can range from mild disapproval to intense hostility, leading to various forms of persecution, unfair treatment, and being labeled as narrow-minded, inferior, or weak. Despite these challenges, we must remain unwavering in our beliefs and strive to exemplify the love and compassion of our Savior.

The question is, Why? Why are BBBs (Bible Believing Believers) treated negatively and persecuted? The simple answer is that we live out our faith in  YAHWEH with conviction or let your light shine for  YAHWEH and Yahshua, which contradicts the lifestyle and choices of most people. But let’s see what the Bible says about it!

Placing Stumbling Blocks

7. Then, it is to you who believe, that this honor is given. But to disobeying ones, He is the “Stone which those building rejected; this One became the Head of the Corner.”

8. He is a stone of STUMBLING and a rock of OFFENSE. And they stumble at it, because they believe not the word: for which they were appointed.

When you live out a faith, which tells you to live a holy set apart life (1 Peter 1:15-16), separated from the world and worldliness (2 Corinthians 6:17-18 and James 4:4), you are illuminating Yahshua to a lawless people. Yahshua is a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense. Your presence alone brings many a sense of unwanted shame and often inflicts a silent rebuke. Your life was built with Yahshua as the cornerstone and the things of YAHWEH as the other stone. Their cornerstone and the stones of their entire building are of their own sinful choosing. 

• You built your life on YAHWEH and His Word through Yahshua, the cornerstone.
  • They rejected Yahshua and built their life on their own stone(s). 
• Your stones say Yahshua is the only way to YAHWEH. (John 14:6)
  • Their stones say to worship whatever god you please because there are many ways to G_o_d.
• Your stones say one man and one woman until death do they part. (Genesis 2:24)
  • Their stones say same-sex marriage, polygamy, fornication, and bestiality. 
• Your stones say no lying or bearing false witness. (Exodus 20:16)
  • Their stones say sometimes you need to lie. 
• Your stones say no killing. (Exodus 20:13)
  • Their stones say abortion is a right.
• Your stones say YAHWEH created everything. (Colossians 1:16)
  •  Their stones say everything created came out of nothing in a big bang. 0+0 = something.

You are a constant reminder of Yahshua and a different way of life they don’t believe in. Yahshua is the “stone of STUMBLING and a rock of OFFENCE.” The more you live with Yahshua as your foundational cornerstone, the more you will stick out. The ways and reasoning of this world will never align with your beliefs. Because of that, you will be offending with the rock of offense and placing Yahshua, the stone of stumbling, along their path.

Non-believers will hate you because they reject YAHWEH, His Word, and Yahshua. Believers will treat you less than and say that you are holier than thou, doing too much, or call you a legalistic. Remember, the people of YAHWEH rejected Yahshua, hated Him, and later killed Him for simply living out the will of his Father in full. When you live out your faith to the full, you are following the steps of Yahshua, and being hated is a part of it, even if it comes from people who say they believe.

The animosity coming from believers stems from believers that are unaware of Bible truths because they refuse to open the Bible, read it, study it, and believe it in its entirety. Many Christians and I was one of them, kept the Bible closed until church time and mainly depended on the words of the Pastor or whatever preacher delivered the sermon. This behavior leads to complacency, foolishness, blindness, and at worst, destruction. For info on how to study, please review the “How is your Study Life?” Pts 1, 2, 3, and 4.

The Light of the World

14. You are the light of the world. It is not possible to hide a city that is built on a mountain. 

15. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under the bushel, but on the lamp stand; and it shines for all those in the house. 

16. So let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works, and may glorify your Father in Heaven.

When you truly live out your faith in Yahshua, it is very evident to non-believers and believers that you are different. The Bible says that we are the light of the world and a city that sits high on a mountain. When your light shines, it provides light for quite a distance and touches and influences many people in many ways. This light should not be hidden or ignored but instead spread. Your light should be prominent and noticeable, like a lone house at night with lights during a multiple-day power outage in the summer. 

The purpose of letting our light shine or living out your faith is to allow others to witness and glorify our Heavenly Father and to inquire how they, too, can receive the same forgiveness, salvation, joy, and peace you have. However, as mentioned earlier, it is essential to acknowledge that our light may also serve as a stumbling block for some as they struggle to come to terms with their own beliefs and values. As such, it is crucial to approach our faith with humility, compassion, and love, always striving to lead by example and inspire others to follow in our footsteps.

Questions to consider before next week’s food for thought!

• Do you fear upsetting people more than you fear offending YAHWEH?
• Are you more worried and concerned about how others perceive you than how YAHWEH sees you? 
• How do you balance your desire for social acceptance with your commitment to YAHWEH?
• In what ways do societal expectations and norms influence your decision-making?
• How do you seek guidance and discernment in making difficult choices that may not align with popular opinions?
• How can we cultivate a culture of authenticity and vulnerability in a world that often values image over substance?

Definition of Destroyed

1. put an end to the existence of (something) by damaging or attacking it.

When something is referred to as “broken,” it means that it has sustained some form of damage or fracture, causing it to no longer be in one piece. Despite this setback, it is still possible for broken objects to be repaired or mended (1 Thessalonians 5:23). On the other hand, when something is “destroyed,” it means that it has been completely eradicated, resulting in the complete cessation of its existence.

42. Yahshua said to them, Did you never read in the Scriptures, “the Stone which the builders rejected, this One became the Head of the Corner? This was from YAHWEH, and it is a wonder in our eyes?” (Psalms 118:22-23)

43. Because of this I say to you, The kingdom of YAHWEH will be taken from you, and it will be given to a people who produce fruits.

44. And he who falls on this Stone will be broken; but on whomever It falls, It will destroy him. (Daniel 2:44)

What Angered them! 

Yahshua questions the chief priests, theologians, and scholars, asking them if they had read what King David wrote about the coming Messiah in Psalms 118:22-23. Naturally, this question caused anger in their hardened hearts. Who was this Yahshua guy asking us, the leading theologians of Israel, about our familiarity with the Scriptures again? 

From earlier events, questioning, and parables (listed below) coupled with this final question, the chief priests and the elders finally understood that Yahshua was referring to himself as the Stone and Son of YAHWEH and them as being the ones destroyed.

• Yahshua came into town riding on a colt, and the crowds began to praise him, saying, “Blessed is He coming in the name of YAHWEH!”.(Matthew 21:7-11). He was fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9. The chief Priests wanted this type of praise.
• Yahshua threw out all those selling and buying in the sanctuary. He flipped over the tables and chairs of the money changers that turned the house of YAHWEH into a cave of bandits. He also backed up his actions with Scriptures quoting Isaiah 56:7 and Jeremiah 7:11. These actions ended all of the foolishness in the sanctuary that the chief priests allowed, authorized, and probably made profits from. (Matthew 21:7-11).
• Yahshua also healed many sick on that day, and the people praised Yahshua. However, the chief priests were outraged by the outpouring of praise toward Yahshua and asked Him if He heard their praises. Yahshua replied with Psalms 8:2, which likely increased their anger more.
• Yahshua went to teach in the sanctuary and was confronted by the chief priests and some elders. They wanted to know what authority he had to do the things he was doing and who gave it to him. Yahshua answered their question with a question confounding them. (Matthew 21:23-27)
• Yahshua delivers a message to the chief priests and elders through two powerful parables: The Two Sons (Matthew 21:28-32) and The Tenants (Matthew 21:33-41). After hearing Yahshua‘s teachings, they concluded that He was referring to them in the parables. Now, they want to lay hands on him or capture Him.

Breaking on the Stone or Destroyed by the Stone

And he who falls on this Stone (Yahshua) will be broken; but on whomever It falls, It will destroy him (you).

Matthew 21:44 (HRB)

And in the days of these kings, the Eloh of Heaven shall set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed. And the kingdom shall not be left to other people. It shall crush in pieces and make an end all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

Daniel 2:44 (HRB)

In the Scripture(s) above, Yahshua explains to the chief priests and other religious leaders (Theologians) that the people that choose to fall on Him (Yahshua The Stone) have chosen to be broken in total surrender to YAHWEH and His Kingdom, understanding that they will be made whole in or through Yahshua. They have surrendered or laid down their will for the will of the King and His ways, allowing them to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven and eternal life. While the ones refusing to surrender their will or be broken will be crushed by the Stone and destroyed (thrown into the Gehenna Lake of Fire) and will not inherit life. 

Understanding the concept of a kingdom government can be challenging, especially for individuals who have only ever experienced living in a democratic society such as America. In a democracy, the emphasis is on individuality and the freedom to make choices. However, in a kingdom, the citizens are expected to serve their king and abide by his will. If you refuse or reject the king, his authority, or his sovereignty, the consequences are dire, exile or death. Ultimately, it is essential to note that there will only be one Kingdom in the end – the Kingdom of YAHWEH. – and the concept of dual citizenship will not be a possibility.

Choose

YAHWEH has placed us here on Earth with free will to see if we will choose His will or our own will (the will of Satan). Remember when Yahshua taught the disciples how to pray? He said, “…Our Father who is in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name (YAHWEH). Your kingdom come; Your will be done, as it is in Heaven, also on the earth.” (Matthew 6:9-10) 

Some sources suggest that the average person makes about 35,000 daily decisions ranging from insignificant to substantial. There is no greater decision you will make in your life than this one. Therefore, take some alone time and unjack yourself from the world and its distractions (TV, Internet, work, social media, friends, family, smartphones, or whatever is occupying your time) and examine yourself and decide if you want to be broken or destroyed. This choice is a lifelong decision that we must make every day due to the constant pressures of this wicked world.  

When I think about being broken, it takes me back to my childhood memories of horseback riding. I vividly recall the riding instructor educating the other Boy Scouts and me on the safety of horse riding, explaining that their horses were broken in and well-trained to obey their rider’s commands. To my surprise and without hesitation, the horses did exactly what was expected of them for the entire two-hour horseback ride. From that moment, I have always made it a point to ensure that the horses I mount have been broken in and undergone the proper and necessary training. This analogy of three different horses will assist you in pondering the concept of being broken or destroyed.

Which horse would you ride?: Broken, Green Broken, and Unbroken?

• The Broken Horse is submitted, loyal, reliable, trustworthy, and surrendered in will to his master or rider daily. (Matthew 7:21)
• The Green Broken Horse is easily spooked, inexperienced, unpredictable, unsure, and half-hearted in loyalty. (Lukewarm – Revelations 3:15-16) (Double-Minded – James 1:7-8).
• The Unbroken Horse, or the horse that refuses to be broken in, is unreliable and full of destructive behaviors such as untampered aggression, bolting (running away without control), bucking (opposing or resisting), or rearing (expressing their dominance or showing that they are objecting to being broken). Matthew 7:23

What use is a horse to its master if it will not be broken? None. Just like a horse must be broken to be of use to its owner, we too, must be broken and submitted to our Master. Only by accepting and surrendering to the truth (represented by Yahshua) can we be accepted and avoid destruction.

Again, take some time alone away from things, people, and distractions to determine if you want to be broken or destroyed.
